Baby’s First Diwali: Outfit Ideas for Babies and Toddlers

Off-White Cotton Romper for Kids

A baby’s first Diwali is special. There are new clothes, the first diyas, and a whole family wanting photos. But babies and toddlers have their own priorities: comfort, easy nappy changes and naps that don’t care about the puja timing.

Here’s how to dress little ones from newborn to about two years for Diwali, with outfits from our collection that come in baby and toddler sizes.

What matters most for babies at Diwali

  • Soft fabric next to the skin. Many of our baby-size pieces are cotton, which is gentle for a long evening.
  • Easy changes. Pajamas, pants and rompers make nappy changes quicker than a long skirt or a fitted dhoti.
  • No small loose parts for mouthing. Babies explore everything with their mouths. Keep hair clips, bows and tassels for the photos, and remove anything small once the camera is put away.
  • Distance from flames. Keep babies well away from diyas, candles and sparklers, whatever they are wearing.

  • Short Kurta Pajama Set: a black cotton kurta with a red and green floral print, full sleeves and white lace on the placket, with white pajama. It starts at 0–6 months, so even a newborn can match the family.
  • Shahzaada Nehru Jacket Set: white kurta and pajama with a sleeveless Nehru jacket in pure cotton, from 1–2 years. The jacket makes it look dressed-up, and it comes off easily for a nap.
  • White Cotton Short Kurta and Pista Green Side-Button Short Kurta: simple cotton short kurtas from 1–2 years. Pair with soft pants for an easy puja look.

Tips for a calm first Diwali

  • Dress your baby close to photo time, not hours before.
  • Keep a spare outfit in the nappy bag. Sweets and festive food travel far.
  • Plan photos in daylight or early evening before baby gets tired, and well away from diyas.
  • Crackers are loud. Many parents keep babies indoors in a quieter room during the noisiest hour.

Getting the size right

Every product page has a size chart with garment measurements. If your child is between two sizes, choose the bigger one, or WhatsApp us on +91 96806 66037 and we’ll help you pick. Babies grow fast, so for a Diwali outfit it’s often worth going one size up.

Delivery takes 4–9 days with free shipping, so order a little ahead of the festival. Looking for more ideas? Read our Diwali outfit guide for kids.
