Buying kids’ clothes online is easy until the parcel arrives and the kurta is two sizes too small. Children grow at different speeds, so age alone isn’t a reliable guide. The best way to get it right is to compare measurements.
Here’s how to use our size chart and choose the right size the first time.

These measurements are of the garment, not the child. All figures are in centimetres.

How to measure: the easy way
Because the chart shows garment measurements, the simplest method is to measure an outfit that already fits your child well.
- Lay it flat on a table and smooth it out.
- Chest: measure straight across from armpit to armpit, then double it.
- Waist: measure across the waist of the pants or skirt, then double it.
- Shoulder: measure from one shoulder seam to the other.
- Sleeve: from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
- Full length: from the top of the shoulder to the hem.
Compare your numbers with the chart and choose the size that matches or is slightly bigger.
Five sizing tips from parents
- Between sizes? Go bigger. A slightly loose festive outfit is fine; a tight one won’t be worn.
- Think about the date. Buying for a wedding two months away? Allow for a growth spurt.
- Layers need room. For winter functions, a thermal under a kurta takes up space.
- Check length for toddlers. For lehengas and long kurtas, the full length matters more than the chest, so they don’t trip.
